Unite for a Greener Tomorrow: Our Planet, Our Future!

What is Goal 13?

The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 global objectives aimed at improving our world. Goal 13, Climate Action, addresses the urgent need to combat climate change. It involves measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, transition to clean energy sources, and adapt to the challenges posed by a changing climate. This goal is crucial in safeguarding our planet's future and ensuring a sustainable environment for generations to come.

Facts Regarding Climate Change

Ecosystems in Danger

Without action on climate change, the Earth's temperature could increase by over 3°C in the coming years, leading to significant negative impacts on the environment and diverse ecosystems that make our planet distinctive.

Climate Refugees

Entire populations are grappling with the consequences of climate change. Rising sea levels, which has doubled in the last decade, and extreme weather conditions will result in many people having to flee.

Human Conflict

Climate change can make storms and disasters even worse, increases the risk of problems like food and water shortages. These issues can, in turn, spark conflicts and tensions in affected regions, leading to further challenges for communities and governments.

Things you can do

  1. Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle. Buying new items like electronics, clothes, and plastics leads to harmful carbon emissions at every stage of production. To help the environment, consider purchasing less, opting for second-hand goods, and fixing what you can.
  2. Walk, bike or take public transport. The world's roadways are clogged with vehicles, most of them burning diesel or gasoline. Walking or riding a bike instead of driving will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help your health and fitness. For longer distances, consider taking a train or bus.
  3. Eat more vegetables. To reduce your environmental impact, eat more veggies, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, and cut back on meat and dairy. Plant-based foods are kinder to the planet, producing fewer greenhouse gases and using less energy, land, and water.
  1. Plant native species. If you have a garden or even just a plant or two outside your home, check for native species. Consider replacing non-native plants, especially invasive ones, as they disrupt the ecosystem. Choose native plants to help insects, birds, and other creatures find food.
  2. Clean up your environment. Every year people throw out 2 billion tons of trash, and about a third causes environment harms. Use resources wisely, dispose of waste responsibly, and join local efforts to clean up parks, rivers, beaches, and more
  3. Speak up. To make a real impact, raise your voice and encourage others to join you in taking action. Climate action is a collective responsibility that affects us all, and while no person can do it alone, together we can make a significant difference.
